Terrell will play for the State
Title in Ft. Worth. Representatives of the two schools met in Waco and
came to their decision.
The first official state Negro high school football championship will
be played at Farrington Field in a game between I. M. Terrell of Forth
Worth and Anderson High School of Austin.
C. S. (Hot Foot) Johnson hard to stop 140-pound quarterback, and Roy
Lee Hopkins, speedy halfback, will be counted upon to lead the Panthers
to the first offical state title since the Negro League was organized.
Willie Green, Lawson Miller, "General" Jackson and the other Terrell
players are in good shape.
The west side stand will be reserved for white fans.
I. M. Terrel's golden-helmeted Panthers will be favored over the
Anderson High team. The Panthers have scored 201 points in 10 games and
holding the opposition to only 22 points. Anderson has scored 84 points
and yielded 28 in seven games.

Panthers took the lead early in the
opening period by driving 66 yards for a touchdown.
With the ball on Anderson's one yard line, W. Ellison bucked over the
middle. "Hot Foot" Johnson's kick for the extra point was good to put
Terrell out front 7-0.
Anderson fumbled on its 27-yard line. The Panthers recovered to set up
another score. Shirley Morrison plunged over his own right tackle for
another score. Johnson's try from placement was short.
Willie Green intercepted an Anderson pass in mid-field and raced to the
17 to set the stage for another tally. Booker Duncan plowed over from
the four. General Jackson missed the conversion.
Terrell intercepted another pass in Austin territory and begin another
scoring drive. From the 18, Ellison took the snap back and lateraled to
Lawson Miller who crossed the goal line standing up. Johnson added the
conversion to end scoring.
